Summary:

  2. Topic or Unit of Study: Enables learners to explore the essential question, “Do I have a purpose in life?”
  3. Grade/Level:High School
  4. Objective:
          Learner will analyze the significance of life.
          Learner will discuss and value everyone’s process and opinion
          Learner will formulate value of their own life story.

  1. Time Allotment: 12 minutes
Implementation: Learning Context: Healthy discussion habits with encouragement and healthy feedback is a prerequisite.
Procedure
  1. Anticipatory Set
Grab learners attention with video.
  1. Direct Instruction: After video click on “Refresh slide” and lead discussion with no argument from teacher or learner.  Everyone should just listen including instructor.
  2. Guided Practice: Click on “Power Tools”.  Tell them that we can go through life trying to cut down trees with a butter knife, or we can go through life cutting down trees with a chainsaw.  There are secrets to life that are like using a power tool and these are a few of them.  Read through them.  You may also have them keep a journal where they write their thoughts and these power tools
Differentiated Instruction: Learners will be a different stages of understanding and development.  Let them know that this is normal and natural.  These secret to the most important things in life have to be taught and practiced just like any other skill.  Encourage them to not be discouraged if they are just starting to understand some of these tools.
